Sillustani Necropolis 1/2 Dia

Sillustani Necropolis – Half Day: On a high plateau, more than 30 kilometers north of Puno, Sillustani is one of the largest cemeteries in the world. Surrounded by a landscape of stunning beauty, which seems summarized in the serene waters of Lake Umayo, the archaeological site known for its giant “chullpas” (species of stone towers), built by Collas and Incas, to bury their dead.

Many of them are 12 meters tall and have a larger diameter at the top than at the base. A challenge to the laws of gravity and balance. A detail that makes them unique on the continent.

Tombs of nobles Collas, eternal abode of the Children of the Sun, who to master these lands would be added similar to the Temple of the Sun Cori court in Cusco architectural features.

The Sillustani: is a cemetery where you can see impressive funerary monuments of the Kolla culture, best known today as the Sillustani.
