Tour Full Day Colca Canyon Arequipa: The Colca landscape for travel is viewed from east to west, can be divided into four components: the mountains, the highlands, the valley and desert. The Colca Valley river lies on the western slope of the Andes, in the department of Arequipa in southern Peru. The Colca River rises to 4400 meters above sea level and covers 450 kilometers, along which changes its name becoming Majes River and then the Camana River shortly before it flows into the Pacific Ocean.

Our clients are picked up from the hotel at 05:00 hrs indicated. The tour to Colca Canyon is performed at a private machine which consists of a professional chauffeur and a local guide. We started the tour driving our vehicle to the northeast of Arequipa, crossing interesting scenarios, reaching Cañahuas Reserve Pampas. In this place, located about 3,000 meters above sea level, you can see groups of vicuñas and Alpacas. Here our guide will stop and explain about the importance of these beautiful Andean camelids. Later continue climbing, up to the Mirador de los Andes, a spectacular route point, located at 4850 meters above sea level.

Here we will stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery that this natural viewpoint offers. Then we continue our journey towards the viewpoint of the Cruz del Condor, passing through beautiful scenery along the edge of the canyon.

During the trip to this beautiful natural viewpoint, we stop at key points in which spectacular canyon views are appreciated. Through our local guide will learn many aspects about the different indigenous groups that inhabited and still inhabit the vast Colca Valley. Later arrive at the famous Cruz del Condor, here we will have over an hour to admire the natural beauty of the Canyon offers and also to observe the majestic flight of the Condor and make short walks around.

Later start our journey back to Chivay, where we stop for lunch in a typical restaurant in this town. Later visit the thermal baths of Calera, a paradise, surrounded by beautiful mountains and hot springs flowing from inside the mountain at a temperature of 80 °, and are combined with cold water in a pool to reach 35 °, proper temperature for a relaxing bath. Finally return to the city of Arequipa, arriving at approximately 19:00 hrs.

For this excursion is necessary to wear warm clothes as the weather in the Colca Canyon is usually cold, especially in winter time (June to September) when temperatures drop significantly in the evenings and nights are very cold.

Keep in mind that we are traveling at considerable altitudes (average 3600 meters / 4800 meters on the highest step).

If you make this trip at other times of year can wear light clothes in the morning but in the afternoon it is always advisable to wear a coat
